So i have a 1991 gmc sierra 1500 with a stock small block 350 and it has the hm290 manual transmission i rebuilt 2 weeks ago. So im plannin on putting a little more hp on the engine about 300 to 400 hp but i wanted to keep it manual but I heard these transmissions are wimpy. Tony, the back of the 6.5 block is like a Chev gas engine. The threaded holes are 3/8 NC. (at least, the early models) The rest of it would require specific parts for the 6.5 Diesel engine. The SBC flywheel wouldn't balance with the 6.5 crank. Maybe Dave will jump in, I think he's put some similar combinations together.
